WHO WE ARE
The Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE) is the peak body representing all Australian universities and several of the private colleges that offer initial teacher education degrees. ACDE works to ensure that Australia produces teacher graduates of the highest quality; has a strong teaching profession; and an inclusive and innovative education system that enhances learning and teaching.

ACDE EXECUTIVE
At the October 2023 AGM, Professor Simone White from RMIT was elected Vice President of the ACDE, joining President Professor Michele Simons (Western Sydney University) and Secretary/Treasurer Professor Barney Dalgarno (University of Canberra) both elected to their second term of office.

2022 AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO EDUCATION AND THE ACDE
This is a peer-nominated award, endorsed by the Board, recognising exceptional service to the discipline of education. This year there were two worthy recipients.
Professor Donna Pendergast, Griffith University
Donna was acknowledged by her peers for her outstanding and impactful contributions which include extended services to the ACDE and her role as QCDE President, together with the significant positions she has held for the profession at State and Federal government levels. All of this work embodies and speaks to Donna’s enduring commitment to Education and her passion for the teaching profession.
Professor Helen Huntly, Central Queensland University
Helen’s services to Education and the teaching profession have been acknowledged in many ways. This award recognises her services to groups such as QCDE and ACDE as well as the work that she has undertaken on a number of State and Federal government bodies. Helen has been the voice for regional education institutions through her strong advocacy for the provision of quality education and training services in regional, rural and remote areas.
